What time are the worship services?
On Sundays, our worship services begin at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm in the main auditorium and last about 75 minutes. During the 10:00 service, there are age specific programs throughout the building for children from 3 months of age through grade 8. Our 6:00 service on Sunday evening targets young adults and child care is not offered.
When should I arrive?
It is good to arrive about 15 minutes before services begin. You will need time to park, make your way to the foyer, register any children who may have come with you, and then get into the auditorium. Services begin at 10:00 and 6:00 pm sharp, and are preceded with a five minute countdown to signal that worship will soon begin.
How long are worship services?
Worship services typically last about 75 minutes. Following the Sunday morning service, people are invited to enjoy coffee and conversation in the foyer. On many Sundays there is an invitation to stay in the auditorium for extended programming, though this is strictly optional. Children need to be picked up by parents/guardians immediately at the close of the morning service.
Where should I park?
We have two parking lots available. The north lot can accommodate 96 cars, including 7 handicapped spaces close to the office entrance. The south lot holds 232 cars. Our building is fully wheelchair accessible from all entrances.
What door should I enter?
Our building is fully wheelchair accessible from all entrances. Entrances are provided at the south, east and north sides of the building. After the 10:00 morning service begins, for security and safety reasons, the only entrance remaining open is the main entrance at the east side of the building.
Where do I take my children?
We welcome your children! During the 10:00 Sunday morning service, there are age specific programs throughout the building for children from 3 months of age through grade 8. For new families with children, we have a Family Welcome Centre in the kids' area of the building. Welcome materials and personnel are available to assist you and to make your family's visit safe and fun! Note that our 6:00 Sunday evening service targets young adults and offers no child care.
What if I have a baby?
Carruthers Creek is bustling with babies! We have an excellent nursery program and facilities, well-staffed with caring volunteers. Nursery care is available to you even on your first visit to Carruthers Creek. Come to the Family Welcome Centre in the kids' area to receive instructions and register your child. Of course, if you wish to keep your baby with you during the service, you are welcome to do so.
Where is the auditorium?
The auditorium is at the very centre of the church building. It is most easily accessed from the foyer through the main entrance on the east side of the building. Greeters and ushers are available on Sundays if you need directions or assistance.
Is there a dress code?
No. Our desire is for people to feel comfortable “as they are” when they come to worship. We have people who attend in every style of clothing, from business attire to completely casual.
What is the music like?
We have three worship leaders. Our worship is God-centered, band led, upbeat and very lively.
Do I have to sing?
Singing is not required, but most people love to take part. To make it easier for everyone, words for every song appear on the two large screens at front of the auditorium.
Will I have to give my personal information to anyone?
No. Some people choose to attend services and, for a variety of reasons, wish to remain anonymous for a period. This is completely fine. One of our values is to allow people time and space to get comfortable at their own pace. Of course, when a person wishes to find out more information, or to be included in regular church communications, we have several simple and quick ways for people to express their desire. The first is the Connection Card that accompanies each Sunday bulletin. You are also invited to visit the Information Centre on Sundays. Or, you may Contact Us through C4's website.
Does it cost anything to attend?
No.
Who is the speaker?
On most Sundays, the speaker for the sermon will be Jon Thompson. Jon, our Senior Pastor, is an excellent communicator. Other pastors and guest speakers will also speak from time to time.
What kind of church is Carruthers Creek?
Carruthers Creek is a member church of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada (AGC). We are an evangelical church of Christ followers who desire to live our lives based on the teachings of the Bible and in joyful relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Do you have any welcome information for newcomers?
In the church foyer we have an Information Desk with lots of material about our church programs and ministries. Personnel are also available to answer any questions you might have.
Will I be put “on the spot” by anyone?
No! We want everyone to feel safe, secure, and comfortable. You will not be singled out, or “put on the spot” in any way.
